COSTING NO LESS THAN EVERYTHING
Sometimes love costs no less than everything.
Parents know this in bringing up children in love; and then it costs a lot to let them go, as they make their way through life, finding their own feet, forming their own families.
And the love of God opens the door to people who are poor; if we fail to recognise the poor in our world we are missing God.
And we know that a passion for wealth can close us off from other people as we fail to see their needs and get into competition with them.
The call of the Lord is to give of ourselves for others, even when it hurts; and into a love which shares with those who are poor.
His love calls us, and when we live in this love of giving and receiving, we are the most blessed of people.

MISSION SUNDAY: Next Sunday is Mission Sunday and marks the annual worldwide Catholic celebration of Mission Sunday, the theme for which is Reach Out. Our prayers and donations on Mission Sunday help to support mission projects and allow Catholic communities worldwide to become self-sufficient and progress according to their own needs and traditions.
MISSION SUNDAY COLLECTION: A special collection will be taken up next weekend 17/18 October by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, in aid of the Church’s mission activities. We ask your generous support.
THANK YOU: Sincere thanks to all who supported the Priests’ October Collection which was taken up at Masses last weekend.

DAY FOR LIFE PRAYER
We thank you Lord for the gift of life.
Help us to appreciate the unique dignity of every human person and the individual contribution they make to the world, in fulfilment of the task you give them.
Enable us by your grace to promote their well-being, serving you in one another in a spirit of generosity, through Christ Jesus Our Lord.
Amen.

“YOU ARE PRECIOUS IN MY SIGHT”: Today we celebrate “Day for Life”. A day dedicated to celebrating the dignity of Life from conception to natural death - will this year focus on Suicide. The Bishop’s Pastoral Letter is available in the Porches and also a “Life Day” Novena journey of Prayers. Please take them with you and pray in thanks for the gift of life, and ask the Lord to give strength to those families who live with the pain of death through suicide.
PRIESTS’ OCTOBER COLLECTION: This will be taken up at all Masses this weekend. We ask your generous support.
THANK YOU: I want to say a very sincere “Thank You” to all who made our Golden Jubilee such a successful and memorable occasion. I appreciate the fact that so many got involved in the preparation: organizing committee, choir & choir directress and organist; those who brought deserts and cakes as well as the wonderful service at Paddy Cooney’s; those who helped with decorations, flowers and painting, inside and around the church and restaurant; photographers, musicians & entertainers; those who sent best wishes, Mass cards and gifts. I have celebrated a special Mass of thanksgiving for all of your intentions, and will continue to remember you in my prayers. Fr. Kevin.
